I'm Back
I'm back to where I once belonged: writing and riding. (Thanks to the Beatles lyrics from Get Back. Now you will have to go listen to the song...)
Read
Hello again! I paused on my writing for much of the summer. I have been reading some, but I don’t have any detailed book reviews or recommendations at this time.
Speaking of books, did you know about Bookshop.org? It’s a good alternative to Amazon for buying books, and by purchasing on Bookshop.org, you can support your favorite independent bookstore. I’ve heard of it before, but have only recently dug into it. Although my books are on Amazon, I prefer to support independent stores when I can.
I checked, and found a paperback copy of my book Riding Lessons available on bookshop.org here.
Oh, and this is cool, as an author I can become an affiliate of bookshop.org. I’m adding this task to my to-do list. Here’s the link for the brochure and instructions for authors.
Write
Did I write much this summer? No. Mostly I’ve been planning to hit it hard in October. Now it’s October, and I’m back to writing. I’ll be working on the sequel to Riding Lessons, Things I Learned While Horsing Around, and continuing to try to get Scent of Salt, Scent of Pines, Poems and Prose Across Washington, published. Wish me luck!
Ride
Somehow two months were frittered away without a newsletter. It’s my riding buddy’s fault. She said, “Hey Michelle, want to do the John Wayne Trail Fall Ride with me?” Once I said yes, my summer was taken up with riding and more riding, to get both the humans and the horses fit.
We rode many miles in July, August, and September in preparation. Oddly, my worry about falling off my horse went away once I had the goal of getting ready for 4 days and 65 miles of riding.
We completed the Fall Ride in late September, and we lived! Vali, my horse, wrote a blog about the ride. Find it here. I’ll likely be writing more about the big ride, so keep an eye on my blog.
It’s gorgeous weather with cool mornings and warm days. I’ll make sure I don’t spend too much time at my desk. Enjoy the Fall and get outside!

I left a comment for Vali on Wordpress. Make sure he sees it! :)
Such a fun read. You and Vali are brave and adventurous! Looking forward to your next book.
